Applications
- Marine anchor chain joining
- Commercial vessel mooring systems
- Offshore platform anchoring
- Defense and government maritime operations
- NATO and military procurement
Compatibility
Designed for 16mm (5/8") Grade 3 stud link anchor chain. Due to the ±2.5% manufacturing tolerance, the actual kenter measures 15.6–16.4mm and accommodates equivalent imperial chain sizes within tolerance. Kenters are manufactured every 2mm in size.
Required accessories (sold separately):
- Lead Plug — required to secure the taper pin after installation
- Drive Pin Punch — required for disassembly
Installation Instructions
- Qualified personnel required for installation.
- Required tools: drift punch, sledgehammer appropriate for chain size.
- Disassemble kenter and insert taper pin through the chain link and kenter body.
- Drive the taper pin fully home (large end first) with a sledgehammer.
- Secure with a lead plug — hammer flush until the pin cannot back out.
- Inspect visually before placing into service.
- For disassembly: Remove the lead plug first (torch or drill), then use a Drive Pin Punch on the small end of the taper pin to drive it out.
Safety Warnings
- NOT approved for overhead lifting.
- NOT for load bearing in air — mooring and anchoring use only.
- Do not exceed rated breaking load (13.2 tonnes / 29,100 lbs).
- Inspect before each use — check for deformation, cracks, and corrosion.
- Replace if dimensional changes, cracking, or missing components are detected.
- Lead plug must be installed and fully seated before operational use.
- Always match kenter grade to chain grade — do not mix grades.
- Used kenters should be replaced, not re-certified.
